Thanks to all who made our Shop Owners’ Night a success. There were lots of good comments about the demonstrations as well as the number of people who attended. Thanks for the support.

2006 Quilt Challenge
Make a greeting card quilt the size of a fat quarter, 18 x 22.
You may use any theme that would be an appropriate greeting, such as a birthday or holiday.
The quilt is to be completed and should have a sleeve so that you can use it as a wall hanging.
The challenge is due at the August picnic and a People's Choice Award will be given.

Focus On ...
We welcome seven new members to the guild. Stop and talk to them at the next meeting. Another new member is:
Amy Howells
Amy has only been quilting for about a year and a half. She learned from her friend, Kyrti Swanson. She hasn’t taken any other classes as yet. Although a beginner, Amy has made four quilts: a rail fence quilt and three prayer quilts. The prayer quilts are lap quilts that her school has begun to make. They have ties on them and as the knots are tied a prayer is said.
Amy is a special education teacher at Mohawk Elementary School.
Amy says, “my grandmother was a quilter. My sister and I were spoiled—we played with the quilts and even took them to the swimming pool—yikes!”
She doesn’t have a set time to quilt, just has to get it done once the project is started.
Her tip for other quilters? Don’t give up.
WE NEED NEWS...
If anyone goes to a quilt show or purchases a new quilt book that they like, please give Jean some information about it. It can be put into the newsletter and shared with everyone.
