Delores Romeo
Delores, influenced by her mother who always quilted, started quilting in 1992 and took lessons at the Quilters Quarters. Her favorite class was a reversible flannel class. Delores prefers quilts with matching colors over scrappy ones and doesn’t have a large stash of fabric.
She has completed four quilts, four wall hangings and lots of quilt crafts. She can be found sewing mostly in the mornings. Her tip to us: “work at it harder than I do!”
Judy Clare
Judy started quilting around 1990 and using books, taught herself. Since then, she’s taken classes which are too numerous to list; however, her favorite was “Mariners Compass” that she took from Jeannie Morris at Patches, Pretties and Lace. Another favorite was a rotary cutting class she took from Nancy Johnson Srebro.
Judy loves Mariners Compass and primitive or folk art style applique. She has been influenced by books, magazines, quilt shows, guilds and shops. If we looked at her stash we’d find...well, she says that it would be much easier to tell us what’s NOT in her stash! Unfortunately, Judy never kept count of her finished projects; however, she estimates that it would be around 50.
Judy is Operations Manager at Hicks Office Products from 8 to 5. She also owns and operates “Cats Cradle Quilting” - a long arm quilting business which she runs after hours. She quilts for herselfwhenever she can snatch the time. Judy’s trying to find a balance between her long arm quilting for
others and working on her own projects.
Judy’s tip for us: “Relax and enjoy the process. If you are too concerned with perfection, you won’t have enough fun. Your goal should be to have fun.

We will be sewing quilts for Childrens’ Hospital. Sign up and pay $5 at the March meeting.
The $5 covers lunch, you bring a snack to

Mystery Quilt Day
This September 25th activity is a fundraiser for the guild. We will need 20 people to sign up (friends will be accepted after members sign up). The cost will be $15 (visitors $20) plus either a door prize (new or newly made with a cost of between $5 and $10) or bring food. Think about attending this event and sign up at the March or April meeting. If there are not enough people, the event will not be offered.

Where The Corners Meet Quilt Guild
March 2004
March Meeting:
1. We will be learning how to make Tee-shirt quilts this month. Supplies you will need to bring are: a T-shirt of your choice, rotary cutter, 24” ruler, cutting mat, square up ruler, light to medium weight non-woven fusible interfacing/bonding (not paper backed). You can bring accent material for borders and binding and backing if you wish, but we might not get to that part at our meeting.
Yard goods and all Tee-shirts should be machine washed and dried.
2. Be prepared to purchase your kit for the President’s quilt. Each kit costs $2.
3. Fun Fat Quarter Exchange - Bring a spring/Easter fat quarter for a fun exchange.
February Meeting: We made portable ironing boards. They can look so pretty and are so easy to carry with you. A great project.
Dates to Remember:
April - Row Quilts: Each person’s own row should be done and brought to the meeting to pass on to the next person.
May - Spring Challenge Quilt due
August - Face blocks due
- President’s block due
October - Personal UFO due
Row Quilt Information:
The Row Quilt groups are:
Group #1: Mary Wike, Mary Ann Snyder, Pepper McGarry, Jean Wanchick, Rose Lawton, Alice Ann Flack
Group #2: Machelle Scott, Marilyn Michaels, Delores Romeo, Marilyn Nebel, Becky Barbarino, Brenda Leone
Group #3: Dottie Taylor, Martina Holliday, Gale Court, Dianna Russell, Mary Lou Townley, Chris LaLumia
Each row should measure 36 and 1/2” wide and should be between 6” and 8” high. Not every row you do for each member of your group has to be the same. Each group can decide how often they want to pass their finished row on to the next person (e.g. monthly or every two months). Each person should prepare a label that goes with their row so that each member can sign (e.g. “Log Cabin row—Mary Ann Snyder, 2004”).
A suggestion: Group #1 is using new pizza boxes to keep their rows in. The boxes will have their name on the outside and inside will have the information about their colors, and any other pertinent information along with the label for each person to sign and the finished rows.
Remember to wear your
Nametag at meetings.

Hostesses Remember:
Come early, get key from Linda at the shop, clean up the kitchen, put away tables and chairs ,return key to mailbox

We need help:
The program committee is looking for someone to demonstrate how to do photo quilts for the July program. If you do them or know of anyone who could do this, contact one of the members of the committee.
October’s challenge is our personal UFO challenge. At the last meeting we signed a sheet on which we vowed to complete a project. If we don’t, we pay the guild $5!we don’t complete our project we pay the guild $5.
August’s challenge is a Face Block. At our picnic we will turn in our face block. Pick up a yellow sheet with explanations and a white sheet with a face outline at the sign in table. The blocks will be 11” X 19” with 1/4” around for sewing together. The pose should include from shoulder up—not full length of person. Sounds like a real challenge.
Sewing Day : Our first sewing day on Saturday, Jan. 17th was lots of fun. The project, a Flip and Stitch Quilt taught by Harriet Mason and Regina Harakal (with lots of help from Tracy) was easy and very versatile. Once we caught on to the “secret” of getting started, the rest was easy.
Machelle Scott got our lunch at Pizza Joes and members brought goodies to munch throughout the day. Thanks to everyone involved for a delightful day.
This year’s challenge blocks:
May’s challenge is to create a quilt using the pastel squares we got at the October meeting. Use 31of the squares and you may add one background and 2 additional accent fabrics
Welcome new members Elaine Fisher, Sharon Gropp and Marilyn Lockwood
