December Meeting—December 13
Our annual holiday dinner will be held in a new location this year.  We will be going to Ryder’s Restaurant located just West of New Wilmington at the corner of Rts. 208 and 18. The dinner is $13.  If you are a paid up member, the guild will pay $2 of that and you can pay the remaining $11 at the November meeting.   (If you aren’t able to be at the November meeting, pay for your reservation at the Quilting Bee no later than December 1.)
Arrive around 6 p.m. for dining at 6:30.  We will have a gift exchange.  It is to be a sewing related item no less than $10 in value.
We hope to see you at this wind-up to our quilt guild year.

December: Christmas Dinner and gift exchange

Editorial
member: one of the individuals composing a group.
membership: the state of being a member.

The annual selection for a nominating committee was made once again at the last meeting,  They are Gale Court, Rose Spalla and Marilyn Michael.
I detect a “not me” sentiment when it comes time to select new leaders….BUT...our group (or any group) needs people to take on leadership positions or it won’t run.  Also, the same few people shouldn’t be expected to take responsibility for leadership over and over again.  Each member should be willing to take a turn for the guild.
Our guild has always been a good one to not put any pressure on members to produce quilts or projects.  It’s always been my understanding that you can enjoy learning new techniques but if you don’t want to make anything with them you don’t have to.  However, this attitude can’t be the same for helping the group operate.  Everyone needs to contribute to the group in some way.
If the committee members ask you to take on an office for next year, please consider doing so.

October Meeting
Last month we made star blocks out of Flying Geese pieces.  The blocks were to be raffled off, but we discovered that October was to be Dottie Taylor’s last meeting. She and her husband are moving to Waynesboro (near Gettysburg) to be near their three children.
Since Dottie was a founding member of the guild, we decided to give the blocks to Dottie as a going away gift.  We will miss Dottie and hope she returns to Western PA and the guild often.
For the pattern and directions for the block we made go to www.unitednotions.com  -  it is the Moda website.  Go to Moda Fabrics and click on Free Patterns.  The pattern is A Night at the Symphony.

For those of you without access to the internet, the blocks we made last month are explained below.  (Note, the whole quilt instructions are not here.)
