Pin Cushion - Cut lining and muslin  4 1/2" x 3 1/2"
Sew 3 sides of muslin.  Turn, fill with sand.  Stich closed.
Sew 3 sides of lining, turn.
Put muslin sand bag inside lining bag.  Sew shut.
NOTE:  Bag looks nice with the pin cushion done in the lining material.
It's a nice contrast.

If you have a piece of thin, hard, cardboard or a piece of plastic needle point canvas, cut it 4 1/4" x 6 1/4".  Bring this to the next meeting.  I will have some available also.

Scrap Bag Assembly
Before assembling, make sure lining and outer material are even.  Sew seams a generous 1/4 inch.

With right sides together, stitch one side beginning at the bottom, up through the one inch pocket and the 3/4 inch above pocket.  If you have a zig-zag or binding stitch, this gives a nice finished edge.

<----->
Sew these two parts together.  You are sewing the right sides of your outside fabric together
Sew the other side together - Start at the bottom but stop at the bottom of the pocket.

The bottom is opened.  On each side by the stitching line make 1 1/4 - 1 1/2 dart.  Pin.  Sew.  This should lay flat.

Turn bag so lining is on the inside.  You will need to fiddle with it so it lays correctly.

Insert your 4 1/4 x 6 1/4 inch cardboard into pocket.  Sew across opening.

Insert tubing.  Finish sewing up second seam.

Hot glue gun the pincushion to the flat part of the bag.  You may want to stitch this down in addition to the glue gun.

Enjoy!!!      Mary Ann
